Serbian Justice Ministry State Secretary Slobodan Homen says that it is very important for the new government to continue combat against organized crime. “Only a long-term and decisive fight can reduce organized crime to a lower intensity so it would not be one of the country’s priorities in the future,” he explained. Future govt. “must continue combat against crime” “In the last four years, the Justice Ministry’s absolute priority has been combat against organized crime. 24 organized criminal groups have been broken up and tried, including the ones that had a key influence on crime in Serbia and it is very important for Serbia to continue where we left off,” Homen told Tanjug. According to him, police and the prosecution must always be prepared because “you can deliver serious blows to organized crime but you can never completely destroy it because it takes on new forms and always comes back”. The state secretary added that the ministry had proposed almost 100 bills in the previous four years which had been adopted by parliament, stressing that they had made the procedure more efficient.
