U.S. official: Dialogue needs to continue

PRISTINA Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Philip Reeker stated in Pristina on Monday that "the future of Serbia and Kosovo lies in the European integration". They need to continue the dialogue, while Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci backed good relations with all neighbors, "including Serbia". According to Reeker, the U.S. fully supports "sovereignty and territorial integrity of Kosovo" and its path to EU and NATO integration. The Kosovo prime minister stated that this was "a historic day for Kosovo" and expressed gratitude to the U.S. especially for its support in the past. Thaci said that the talks with Reeker also covered the implementation of the Ahtisaari Plan, which was a condition for ending supervised independence, and added that the Pristina government "will continue to work on the inclusion of all communities in Kosovo and establishing government in the entire territory as it has done so far". In Belgrade, Prime Minister Ivica Dacic reacted to the ISG decision to end Kosovo's supervised independence, to say that "any kind" of independence of its southern province was "not acceptable" to Serbia.
