Starting next week, Serbians who are approved EU visas will not pay for them, Vuk Jeremic says. The Democratic Party (DS) official and outgoing foreign minister was speaking for a local television station in Nis last night, when he said that the decision made in Brussels represents "the first steps toward a visa-free regime that will be established by the end of the year". Jeremic: EU visas free of charge "By signing the Stabilization and Association Agreement with the EU, we have embarked on a path from which there is no return, unless we end it on May 11," Jeremic said in reference to the parliamentary elections to be held next Sunday. "Serbia has lost nothing, and has gained economic prosperity, defense of sovereignty and territorial integrity and a possibility to her defend national interests," he said of the SAA. "Those who say the EU must make a stand on whether Serbia is with or without Kosovo are abusing the sentiments of this nation, because they know full well that the EU is deeply divided on this issue," Jeremic went on to say. "The EU makes all its decisions by consensus and such a declaration, with the deep division present, is impossible," he said. Asking the question in that way, Jeremic said, is aimed at Serbia's permanent distancing from the EU.
