The National Bank of Serbia (NBS) is in favor of a new arrangement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). NBS Governor Radovan Jelasic said that a new arrangement would increase Serbia’s credibility, help reform and attract foreign investors. “New arrangement with IMF needed” An IMF mission began a two-week visit to Serbia on October 26, during which it will analyze the country’s macro-economic situation. “Since the end of the last one (mission), we have stressed that Serbia needs a special arrangement with the IMF, and we agree with the government that it should be in the form of an advisory arrangement, without getting into any debt. I hope that the IMF will find enough reason to enter into such an arrangement,” Jelasic said.
