CAIRO 52 people died in a clash between security forces and supporters of the ousted Egyptian president, not far from the Republican Guard building in Cairo. They added that fire was opened after armed assailants attacked them. Meanwhile, the Egyptian ultraconservative Al-Noor Party, which supported the military coup, today withdrew from negotiations to elect the interim prime minister, because of the "massacre" that took place, as they said. "We decided to immediately withdraw from all negotiations in response to the massacre in front of the headquarters of the Republican Guard," a spokesman for the Salafi party posted on Twitter, AFP reported. The Islamist Muslim Brotherhood movement earlier said that 16 members were killed and 100 injured when police opened fire at them during a meeting near the building of the Republican Guard. On Friday, four extremists were killed in clashes with the army on the same location. Previously, and in the wake of the army ousting President Muhamed Morsi in early July and taking control of the country, the conflicts between Islamists and liberal opposition supporters saw more than 30 people die. Morsi and five top Muslim Brotherhood figures are currently in custody, while warrants have been issued for the arrest of about 200 others.
