The world population will exceed nine billion people by 2050, while by the end of the 21st century it would reach 10.1 billion, the UN has said. The world organization's predictions are based on current population growth trends, it has been explained. World will have 9 billion people in 2050 Much of that growth comes from the so-called high fertility countries, mostly located in the sub-Saharan Africa, but also in some parts of Asia, Oceania, and Latin America. Based on these projections, the world's population - currently at some seven billion - will surpass the eight billion mark in 2023, and reach nine billion around 2041. But the analysis also said that small variations could produce long-term differences in the size of the world population. A small growth in the birth-rate could thus see the number of people populating the Earth reach 15.8 billion by 2100, but a small drop would mean that the number would decrease to 6.2 billion by the end of the century.
