"Royal Court" racks up EUR 70k in unpaid electricity bills

The newspaper noted that the electricity meter installed in the palace complex in Belgrade is registered to the "Royal Court" Foundation, a legal entity.

The foundation on several occasions stopped paying its bills, and as a consequence, the debt grew. They have been sued for EUR 30,000 owed for electricity used until July 2013 - while the rest of the debt, EUR 40,000, has been "reprogrammed", with the palace complex "for the most part paying" the installments.

Aleksandar Karadjordjevic, who is the Yugoslav crown prince, said recently that he hoped Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic would consider inviting him to a dinner he will organize in honor of the visiting British Prince Charles. Karadjordjevic also said that he counts on a meeting with Vucic afterwards "when they will solve all the issues related to the payment of electricity bills."
