Serbian athlete wins European long jump silver

Španović's jump is seven centimetres short of her personal best, 6.88 m, which is also the national record.

France's Eloyse Lesueur won the gold medal (6.85 m), while the bronze went to Darya Klishina of Russia (6.65 m).

"This was my first medal in European championships, I could not be happier," the Serbian athlete told reporters, and added:

"The final was very good, I had great competitors and I am proud to have won a medal. Eloyse did almost everything, she is a very strong athlete. I think I had the best jump in the fifth series, I jumped very well and would have probably reached farther had I remained patient. "
