BELGRADE Kuwait has joined the Battle for Maternity Wards by donating a reanimation table to the Clinical Center "Dr. Dragisa Misovic - Dedinje". The donation was presented, on behalf of the embassy of Kuwait, by Ambassador Fawzi Abdul Aziz Al-Jasem. Kuwaiti embassy joins B92 Fund humanitarian campaign "The state of Kuwait is always looking for ways to improve relations with Serbia in all fields, among them the health care and medical care. That is why an agreement has been signed between the two friendly countries for cooperation in this field," the ambassador said, and added: "The state of Kuwait is paying a lot of attention to health and medical care, especially for the youth and the next generation. The embassy noted that in Serbia there is a lack of medical equipment for babies and therefore decided to organize the donation of a certain amount for equipment to KBS 'Dragisa Misovic', hoping it would serve infants and their mothers for a better future." Prof. Dr. Radisav Scepanovoc thanked the Kuwaiti diplomat on behalf of the clinic, and said: "The reanimation table, as its name suggests, is a type of medical equipment that most directly affects the chances of survival of babies at critical moments. As of today, thanks to the donation of Kuwait, our babies will have more chances to survive." Ilir Gasi, coordinator of the campaign "Battle for Maternity Wards," stressed the special importance of international cooperation in actions such as this: "Kuwait is thousands of miles away from Serbia, but this act showed how we close they really are. There is no better way to express friendship among peoples, and I'm sure the people of Serbia will appreciate it." Gasi also reminded that the battle for this ward is not over yet, because it is necessary to obtain one additional ultrasound machine, a transcutaneous bilirubinometar, five ECG monitors and eight infusion pumps. This humanitarian campaign, organized by the B92 Fund, has been ongoing since July 2012, with the aim of equipping all maternity hospitals in Serbia with medical devices relevant to the life and health of babies. With donations from companies, organizations and citizens, the campaign up to this point collected equipment worth about EUR 1.5 million. B92
