Two cadets of the Serbian Army (VS) died on Monday morning in the Pasuljanske Livade training ranges in central Serbia. The Ministry of Defense said that they were killed by "a leftover 33mm grenade". They were being treated at the general hospital in the nearby town of Cuprija, and were later on Monday transported by helicopter to Belgrade's military clinic VMA. Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic visited the wounded cadetes at the VMA, accompanied by Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac and army chief Lt. Gen. Ljubisa Dikovic. Earlier in the day, Nikolic called for an urgent investigation to be launched in order to determine who was responsible for the deadly accident. The cadets of the Military Academy were at the ranges as part of their training, in preparation for the school year's final drill, dubbed Diplomac 2012. Live ammunition was not used in today's training, it has been announced. It was also said that all officers involved in preparations for the drill have been suspended pending an investigation. Two more cadets have been seriously injured, while five others suffered light wounds.

They were being treated at the general hospital in the nearby town of Ćuprija, and were later on Monday transported by helicopter to Belgrade's military clinic VMA.

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić visited the wounded cadetes at the VMA, accompanied by Defense Minister Dragan Šutanovac and army chief Lt. Gen. Ljubiša Diković.

Earlier in the day, Nikolić called for an urgent investigation to be launched in order to determine who was responsible for the deadly accident.

The cadets of the Military Academy were at the ranges as part of their training, in preparation for the school year's final drill, dubbed Diplomac 2012.

Live ammunition was not used in today's training, it has been announced.
