Protesting workers of Kraljevo's Magnohrom factory withdrew from the Ibar highway stretch between Kraljevo and Raska, and the road is open for traffic. Earlier in the day, some 200 workers protesting over unpaid wages left for Belgrade on foot, but were blocked by police. Road unblocked as workers decide to withdraw One of the protesters, Dusan Vukadinovic, told reporters that the decision to go back to Kraljevo came because Mayor Ljubisa Simovic informed them that they would hold meetings with officials of the Ministry of Economy on Thursday. The Magnohrom workers have been protesting for 42 days, mostly at the Kraljevo town hall. Dusan Vukadinovic said earlier on Wednesday that the protesters decided to walk after they learned they would not be able to use buses to travel to Belgrade. He also explained that the Workers and Farmers’ Movement, that was supposed to organize the protest in Belgrade, was told not to bring the Magnohrom workers there “so they would not be attacked by fan groups”. Around 200 Magnohrom workers started the protest in the Kraljevo town hall on February 23, demanding payment of overdue wages. The court has decided that the workers are entitled to payment of all overdue wages. Their delegation met with representatives of several ministries in Belgrade on Tuesday. The government representatives proposed to pay the workers between 40 and 50 percent of the overdue wages and to pay all court costs. Some of the workers are satisfied with the proposal while others demand payment of the entire amount. (Tanjug) Tanjug
