A Serbian climber and businessman from the central town of Kragujevac has reached the South Pole, it has been reported. Dragan Jovovic, who traveled to the planet's southern-most point as part of a team also comprising three Russians, said in a statement posted on his website that the expedition achieved its goal "on Sunday evening at 21:30 Serbian time (CET)": First Serb reaches South Pole "After a difficult journey, exposed to extreme conditions, temperatures that fell below minus 60 degrees centigrade in the polar circle, storms, strong winds and fog, the members of the expedition courageously and successfully reached their destination."
