The number of people dying in traffic accidents on Serbia's roads has been reduced by one third in less than a year. This is according to Interior Minister Ivica Dacic, who credited the new law on traffic safety for the outcome. Significant drop in traffic accidents deaths Previously, statistics showed that each year close to 1,000 people died in car crashes. Dacic said that although criticized, the new legislation had fulfilled its goal. "We'll constantly change and amend the law, adapting it to the real conditions faced by citizens and traffic police," the minister stated. The fines collected from those breaking traffic rules go to the Serbian police (MUP), local self-governments and the Agency for Traffic Safety, Dacic explained.
