Electricity has been restored to the village of Silovo in Gnjilane after a power cut lasting 25 days, announced village representative Milivoje Stojanovic. Stojanovic said that a meeting had been held today between Serb representatives from the municipalities of Gnjilane, Kosovska Kamenica, Vitina and Novo Brdo with a manager from the Kosovo Electricity Corporation (KEK), attended by Thomas Smith from USAID, to try to find a solution to the problem of unpaid electricity bills. Power restored to Gnjilane village He added that he believed that it had been thanks to this meeting that the power supply had been restored. None of the meeting participants wanted to comment to the media, but Beta’s sources say that no final agreement was reached, but that talks were heading in the right direction. Power is soon expected to be restored to other Serb villages in the region. Eleven villages in the Kosovsko-Pomoravlje region have been without electricity since the start of March, affecting around 7,500 people.
