Unprecedented success of Serbian tennis stars competing at the Australian Open dominates today's front pages. BLIC—"First new Serbian passports for our Olympic teams," announces the daily on the front page. Press: "Serbian Open" in Melbourne, energy deal "Tadic wins Velja Ilic's support," claims another headline. "Federer no longer invincible", is about the forthcoming Australian Open semis where Novak Djokovic will battle the world number one, Roger Federer. BORBA—"Signature for the future" is about the Jan. 25 signing of the energy agreement between Serbia and Russia in Moscow. "Kostunica still mulls", the newspaper says that ahead of the Feb. 3 presidential run-off, incumbent Boris Tadic, who is running against Radical Tomislav Nikolic, has not yet secured endorsement from his coalition partners, although his Democrats officially requested it. VECERNJE NOVOSTI—"Serbian passports ready", more on the issuing of the first Serbian passports since 1918. "Conditions for Tadic!" is about the DSS-NS, and their decision to condition their support for Tadic, which he in turn dismissed as "blackmail". "Threesome shakes Melbourne", is a report about the success of Serbia's tennis stars at the Australian Open, albeit they are "twosome" as of this morning, with Ana Ivanovic through to the final, Novak Djokovic awaiting his showdown with Roger Federer, while Jelena Jankovic succumbed to Maria Sharapova in the semis last night. GAZETA—"Invasion of Moscow", says a headline about the energy deal to be signed in Moscow tomorrow, which will see much of Serbia's top officials travel to the Russian capital. "Heroes", the daily dubs the three tennis stars and their performance down under. GLAS JAVNOSTI—"Gracanica, a Siptar monument", is about the "conquering" of the Serb heritage in Kosovo by the ethnic Albanians, whom the daily saw fit to refer to by their derogatory name on its front page. Then, the newspaper says it has had insight into the Russian energy deal: "NIS and annexes hold the key". "Ana and Nole in semis", is about the Australian Open grand slam. DANAS—The daily leads with a Sergei Lavrov statement, where the chief of Russian diplomacy confirmed, "Tadic and Kostunica are coming to Moscow". Not only new passports, but also "New IDs are ready" for the citizens of Serbia, another front page story says. As for conditions put before Boris Tadic, who seeks support from Kostunica and Ilic: "Assume a clear stance on EU mission to Kosovo", he was told. KURIR—Serbian tennis players' success in Melbourne is reported under, "They trample on everyone!" Then the tabloid reprints actor Milenko Zablacanski's last interview, entitled, "I love life and theater". Zablacanski passed away yesterday, after a reckless driver hit his car head on several weeks ago, putting him in a coma. POLITIKA—"Serbian tennis conquers Melbourne", says the front page. "What is Kostunica offering Tadic", is another look at party politics ahead of the decisive second round of the presidential ballot. "South Stream vs. Nabucco", pits the two major pipelines one against the other, as it reports about the energy sector agreement with Russia which Serbia prepares to embark upon. PRESS—"Putinesque coalition", is a take on Tadic and Kostunica's trip to Moscow tomorrow ahead of the Feb. 3 showdown at the polls. "Serbian Open", is perhaps the headline of the day, when it comes to reporting from Melbourne, and our tennis stars' success there.
