The Republic of Srpska (RS) police reportedly interrogated the family of Radovan Karadzic last week in Banja Luka. Banja Luka-based Alternative Television (ATV) quoted on Saturday its sources with the police according to which several persons suspected of belonging to former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic’s support network had been brought in for questioning over the past few days. RS police interrogate Karadzic family Police, however, refused to disclose their names owing to “the sensitivity of the case.” ATV found from sources close to the Karadzic family, that the Hague suspect’s wife, Ljiljana Zelen-Karadzic, was brought in for questioning on Monday, and her daughter Sonja Karadzic-Jovicevic followed a day later. The same source alleged that they both had been exposed to a certain amount of pressure and had been confronted with uncomfortable questioning by the RS police. RS Police Chief Gojko Vasic said that those with objections to police inspectors’ behavior can file a complaint to the internal control. “We are currently processing certain persons seen as parts of a support network of Radovan Karadzic,” he told ATV. Karadzic, along with his former general Ratko Mladic, tops the list of suspects wanted for alleged war crimes committed in former Yugoslavia. Both were indicted in 1995 by the Hague Tribunal for genocide and other war crimes and have been on the run since.
