The French police have arrested Bosnian Serb Radomir Šušnjar, a former member of a paramilitary group in Bosnia, wanted for war crimes.

War crimes suspect arrested in France

The arrest was carried out at the request of the authorities of Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The Bosnian Prosecutor's Office stated that Šušnjar is suspected of, together with Milan Lukić, commanding the Beli Orlovi paramilitary unit and participating in the liquidation of 59 Bosniak civilians, mostly children, women and elderly in Višegrad.

Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor Vladimir Vukčević confirmed for B92 that Šušnjar was arrested, and that his office suspected he was also involved in the kidnapping of passengers at Štrpci.

The Bosnian Prosecution charges Šušnjar of personally participating in the detention of victims a house in Višegrad and in the subsequent burning of the building, according to the local media.

The Hague Tribunal has sentenced Milan Lukić to life in prison for serious crimes against Muslims in Višegrad.
