Speaker: Serbia, Bosnia share same EU path

Serbian Parliament Speaker Slavica Đukić-Dejanović said during her visit to Sarajevo that Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina share the same European pathway.

Serbian Parliament Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic said during her visit to Sarajevo that Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina share the same European pathway. “On this pathway, neither Europe nor anyone else can do more than us in terms of strengthening of regional relations and common values,” Djukic-Dejanovic said at a press conference on Wednesday after a meeting with members of the Collegium of the House of Representatives and the House of Peoples of the Bosnia Parliamentary Assembly. She told representatives of the Bosnia Parliament that every agreement, which was signed between Serbia and the Serb Republic (RS), might also be signed between Bosnia and Serbia. The Serbian speaker stated that Serbia, as one of the guarantors of the Dayton Agreement, would continue to support Bosnia-Herzgovina's territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as its interior organization as defined by the agreement. House of Peoples Speaker Ognjen Tadic said that Serbia and Bosnia will establish close cooperation on the European road. “In the next 10 to 15 years, Serbia and Bosnia, as countries which are looking at the EU from the same side, will be the closest potential allies on the EU pathway,” Tadic said. Recalling that Serbia, as a signatory of the Dayton Treaty, guarantees Bosnia integrity, Tadic underlined that Bosnia does not even think of accepting unilateral proclamation of independence of the so-called Pristina government. House of Representatives Speaker Denis Becirovic said that joint meetings of MPs should not be used for scoring political points, but rather for resolution of open issues and problems between Serbia and Bosnia. He said that burning issues comprise state borders, the problem of use of the Drina River for electricity production, and the issue of old savings accounts of Bosnian citizens in Belgrade Invest bank. Djukic-Dejanovic is on a one-day visit to Sarajevo during which she is to meet with members of the Bosnia Presidency and Chairman of the Council of Ministers Nikola Spiric. According to an earlier announcement, the Serbian delegation will also include MP Kosta Milosevicof the Democratic Party, who is the chairman of the parliamentary Friendship Group with Bosnia.
