Montenegro got its new government headed by Prime Minister Igor Luksic on Wednesday. The new government will have two deputy prime ministers and 15 ministries. Montenegro gets new government The new, 39th Montenegrin government was elected after the resignation of Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic. The government was elected by the parliament without the votes of the three main opposition parties - Socialist People's Party, Movement for Change and New Serb Democracy. Luksic underlined in his program that the priorities of the new government would be Euro-Atlantic integration and a rise in the standard of living. As regards foreign policy, he said there were no open issues and that the stand of his government regarding Kosovo and other countries in the region would be the same as that of the previous government. “The recognition of Kosovo's independence was a politically mature decision,” he said. “As a candidate for European Union membership, Montenegro will endeavor to coordinate its foreign policy completely with that of the EU,” the newly-elected PM stressed. He also advocates Montenegro's accession to NATO, as integration in Euro-Atlantic structures is the country's national interest.
