EU foreign ministers, as well as senior officials from the EU, U.S. and Russia will be attending the EU-Western Balkans conference on June 2 in Sarajevo. The information was confirmed by the Bosnia-Herzegovina Foreign Ministry. EU ministers coming to Sarajevo The conference will be a chance for talks to be held regarding the progress of every regional country on its road to EU integration, and to discuss structural, political and economic reforms on that road, the statement added. A declaration is expected to be signed at the end of the conference, on the initiative of Spain, the country currently presiding over the EU. The statement, however, did not list what Western Balkans officials would be in attendance. According to Bosnian daily Dnevni Avaz, “foreign ministers from Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro and Kosovo” are expected to attend. Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos will most likely be there as well, along with French and Italian Foreign Ministers Bernard Kouchner and Franco Frattini. Swedish and Slovak FM’s Carl Bildt and Miroslav Lajcak will also be in attendance, as well as U.S. Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg. The daily also writes that Turkish FM Ahmet Davutoglu and Russian Deputy FM Vladimir Titov would also attend.
