Ruling VMRO-DPMNE's Georgi Ivanov has won Sunday's presidential elections in Macedonia, it has been officially announced.

Ruling VMRO-DPMNE's Georgi Ivanov has won Sunday's presidential elections in Macedonia, it has been officially announced. The State Electoral Commission said that based on 96.71 percent of counted votes, 437,445 voters cast their ballots in favor of Ivanov, while opposition SDSM candidate Ljubomir Frchkovski won 252,195 votes. Macedonia: Ruling party candidate wins Voter turnout was put at 42.86 percent. VMRO-DPMNE also declared victories in the races for mayor in 16 municipalities, including the capital of Skopje. This party also secured top spots in local administrations in 22 additional municipalities in the first round of voting two weeks ago.
