Top Bosnian officials receiving death threats

Party of Democratic Action (SDA) leader Sulejman Tihic and fellow SDA official Mirsad Kebo have received death threats, according to daily Nezavisne Novine. The daily states that this information has been confirmed by the Federal Police Administration, and that the police are checking the authenticity of the information and the severity of the threats. Quoting unofficial sources, the daily states that people from the Bekto Preciza company in Gorazde offered to pay EUR 500,000 for the assassinations of Tihic and Kebo. According to the same sources, Kebo’s death was ordered because he is believed to be responsible for the arrest of Senad Sahinpasic, a controversial businessman and former MP from Gorazde, while Tihic is a marked man because of his political activities, the daily writes. Bekto Preciza is owned by Austro-Bosnian businessman Redzo Bekto, who has Austrian citizenship and currently lives in that country. His name is on the list of donors for the new Islamic Community building in Sarajevo, and Bekto International is also one of the 40 buyers of the Economic Bank of Sarajevo.
