The Slovenian National Party wants a referendum to be held over Croatian EU membership. The party has submitted the request for a referendum on Slovenian support for Croatia’s accession to the EU. Slovenian nationalists oppose Croatian EU entry A majority of votes in the Slovenian parliament is necessary for the motion to pass, and the question would read: “Do you support Croatian accession to the EU?” According to the party’s president, Zmaga Plemenitog Jelincica, Croatia does not respect the principles of international conduct, as evidenced by her unilateral political moves, her encroachment of Slovenian sovereignty and her aggressive policies towards Slovenia. The Slovenian National Party believes that, prior to joining the EU, Croatia should settle all unresolved matters with Slovenia, and feels that Croatia should join the EU together with the remaining west Balkan countries, once they are all prepared to adopt European legal order.
