Aleksandar Vucic on Saturday spoke with Vladimir Putin on the phone, wishing the Russian leader a happy birthday as he turned 65.

Vucic and Putin speak in Russian, agree to meet soon

"We spoke about the Russian MiGs (donated to Serbia) and all our previous agreements. He was very kind and expressed his gratitude both to the Serb people and to Serbia," said Vucic.

"I congratulated him his 65th birthday, wishing him good health, political success in solving the problems in the world, and further improvement of cooperation with our country," Vucic revealed.

The president said Putin was "personally grateful to him for improving relations between the Russian Federation and Serbia."

"I am certain that under your leadership Serbia and the Serb people will only move forward," Putin was quoted as telling Vucic.

The Serbian president also said he and his Russian counterpart agreed to meet very soon in order to continue their work dedicated to increasing cooperation between the two countries "in all areas."
