President to invite leaders to consultations after all
FoNet agency said this was her reply when asked why Nikolic decided to circumvent the Constitution and not hold consultations on a new government with leaders of parliamentary parties.Addressing a statement made by Nikolic earlier this week, she said he "did not say there would be no consultations concerning the naming of a prime minister-designate."
According to Pak-Stankovic, the president had instead "raised the question of whether it would be at all necessary to hold consultations once the representative of the list that won a majority of parliamentary seats (SNS leader Aleksandar Vucic) provided him with the evidence that he can form the government."
Asked whether Nikolic's decision was an attempt to avoid meeting with "his former friend, leader of the SRS Vojislav Nikolic", Pak-Stankovic said that "all newspapers are falling for the spin of the tabloids, who seem to be eagerly awaiting the Nikolic-Seselj meeting."
Nikolic and Vucic were both high-ranking officials of Seselj's Serb Radical Party (SRS) until 2008, when they broke away to form the SNS amid political acrimony.
