U.S. VP "regrets loss of civilian life" during NATO bombing

U.S. Vice President Joseph Biden has told Serbian PM Aleksandar Vucic that he "regretted the loss of civilian life during NATO's bombing campaign in 1999."

U.S. VP "regrets loss of civilian life" during NATO bombing

Biden and Vucic spoke on the phone on Thursday, the White House said on its website.

During the same conversation, Biden "commended Vucic for his vision in working to build Serbia’s European future."

"The leaders reiterated the importance of the close ties enjoyed by United States and Serbia and agreed on the need to maintain momentum on the Serbia-Kosovo dialogue in the interest of promoting stability and prosperity for all people in the region," said a brief statement posted on the website.
