Austria "fails to apply for dial code for Kosovo" - paper

Austria has not applied for a telephone dial code for Kosovo, Koha Ditore, an Albanian language daily published in Pristina, is reporting.

Austria "fails to apply for dial code for Kosovo" - paper

The paper's website said that according to one of the agreement's provisions Austria should have, by November 15, submitted an application to the ITU (International Telecommunication Union) to grant Kosovo the dial code "303".

The report claims that the application has not been submitted "because Serbia prevented it by registering its telephone company in Kosovo."

"Now everything has been postponed, and now the ITU does not even accept to communicate with Kosovo's officials," said the website, adding:

"Neither the EU nor the Austrian embassy wished to speak about this process, while the government said they received guarantees from Brussels there would be no delays."
