EU approves SAA for Kosovo

The Council of the European Union has approved the Agreement on Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) between Kosovo and the European Union.

EU approves SAA for Kosovo

This agreement should be signed on October 27 in Strasbourg.

The SAA provides for the establishment of contractual relations between Kosovo and the European Union and represents the first formal step towards its full membership in the EU.

"Today's approval of the SAA in the Council of the EU is a historic moment for Kosovo, and opens a new page towards the ultimate goal of Kosovo's membership in the EU. The negotiation process started in 2013," said Minister for European Integration in Kosovo's government Bekim Collaku.

Following the signing of the SAA, it should be ratified by the Assembly of Kosovo.
