According to announcements, Nikolic will learn about the security situation and the conditions in which members of the army live and perform their duties, and will also attend a military exercise. At the base, Nikolic will meet with the commander of the ground forces, Gen. Milosav Simovic.

Commander of the 4th Brigade of the Land Army Gen. Zoran Lubura told reporters that the situation in the GSZ was currently stable and that the army was "constantly monitoring the complex security situation in the surroundings."

He remarked that the army was "strong enough and ready to react to all security threats and risks," and that the brigade's main task was to secure the administrative line between Kosovo and central Serbia and control the GSZ.

In performing this very complex task, Lubura said, the army has "exceptional cooperation with members of the MUP, security services, the Coordinating Body for southern Serbia, KFOR, and the local population."

The president will today also tour the Pcinj District, meet with local officials and those from the Coordinating Body, and visit the monastery of Prohor Pcinjski.
