Austrian Ambassador Johannes Eigner says his country is willing to back the decision on formal initiation of Serbia's EU accession talks by the end of the year.

BELGRADE Austrian Ambassador Johannes Eigner says his country is willing to back the decision on formal initiation of Serbia's EU accession talks by the end of the year. Eigner announced that the talks on the negotiating framework are underway and that the officials are discussing the manner to incorporate the issue of the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina into that framework. Austria believes that the issue is important but not everything should depend on this from the very start, Eigner told Tanjug on the margins of the 13th Serbia Economic Summit.

He underscored that local elections in Kosovo scheduled for November 3 represent a part of the puzzle in the normalization process.
