BELGRADE Milovan Drecun says a single list of Serbs in Kosovo, "which would be clearly backed by Belgrade," would "strengthen a future community of Serb municipalities." The chair of the Parliament Committee on Kosovo and Metohija and SNS MP also warned that in case the Serbs boycotted the forthcoming local elections in Kosovo, "it could happen that lists under the covert influence of Pristina come to power in the community of Serb municipalities. Single electoral list "would strengthen community" “When it comes to northern Kosovo, Albanians who live in some areas in the north will certainly go to the polls, the Bosniaks too, some Serb list, but it could happen that we have some lists under the covert influence of Pristina, that is Hashim Thaci, and then they will seize power in these municipalities,” he said. “In that case, they would rule the community of Serb municipalities, administer funds of that community, decide about economic issues of these municipalities that would make up the community, on education, health care,” Drecun said in a statement to RTS. “I think we will not face a situation that the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija would not go to the polls. The question remains how many of them will cast their ballot. There is still enough time for all puzzles to fall into place,” Drecun said. There was no dilemma as to Serbia's stand on whether the Serbs should go to the polls, Drecun said, noting that by accepting the Brussels agreement and verifying it in the parliament, Belgrade has clearly voiced commitment to holding elections in the community of Serb municipalities. Drecun says he was rather surprised to see that the Serbs who do not want to go to the polls on November 3 seemed to have "no exit strategy as to what to do after the boycott". The making of a single Serb list for elections, which would be clearly backed by Belgrade, would give necessary strength to the future community of Serb municipalities, while at the same time eliminating the possibility of Pristina having a decisive influence on the community of Serb municipalities thanks to certain parties that would appear in the election, Drecun said.
