NEW YORK Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic has stated in New York that Serbia cannot accept Kosovo’s membership in the United Nations (UN). He explained that Serbia could not agree to Kosovo’s UN seat because it believed that the issue of status had not been solved yet. Serbia cannot accept Kosovo in UN, Dacic says Dacic said that it was necessary to look for a fair solution that would be in the best interest of both Serbs and Albanians, the Serbian government released on Saturday. “It is unacceptable to us, and we have the Russian Federation’s support, that the issue of the UN membership is solved with partial agreements,” the prime minister said during his meeting with Russia’s Ambassador to the UN Vitaly Churkin in New York. Dacic stressed that Serbia had not changed its position regarding Kosovo’s UN seat. He added that Serbia needed help from Russia, China and other powerful countries in the solving of the Kosovo issue and that the support was based on values of the international law and truth. “We are very grateful to Russia for the support is has been giving us. The Russian Federation supports Serbia to find a just solution and secure permanent peace in the region and primarily survival of Serbs in a principled and constructive manner. Every abuse of international missions that leads toward strengthening of Kosovo’s independence has been strongly condemned,” the Serbian PM explained. Dacic said that he expected the number of U.S. investments in Serbia to significantly increase in 2013, the government stated in the release. At Wall Street Journal’s roundtable, the prime minister spoke about the Serbian government’s efforts to stabilize the economic situation in the country and revive the economy. He also talked about Serbia’s EU pathway, political situation in the country and the country’s efforts to find a fair solution for the Kosovo issue through dialogue. Ivica Dacic (Beta, file) Beta
