WASHINGTON, NEW YORK Serbia’s Prime Minister Ivica Dacic met with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) has reported. The PM underscored that he and Ban had agreed that everything that took place in the political process needed to remain status neutral, that it needed to be in accordance with the UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and that UN should have more of its representatives in Kosovo. Dacic met with Deputy Secretary of State William Burns during his visit to the U.S. Burns voiced a “lasting support for Serbia's European future”. An official at the Department of State said that Burns, who met with the Serbian prime minister on Thursday, noted progress that Belgrade had achieved in the EU-facilitated dialogue with Pristina. Burns underlined the importance of continued constructive work with Kosovo, with a view to achieving the joint goal of EU integration, the US official said. The deputy secretary of state praised the prime minister for his efforts invested in the improvement of relations in the region.
