BELGRADE Serbia's Minister of Economy and Finance Mladjan Dinkic said on Tuesday the issue regarding Kosovo's status would not be posed to the current or next government. For that reason, "it is pointless to discuss it now", he explained. "Pointless" to discuss Kosovo's status now Dinkic spoke in the wake of two seemingly differing statements on the subjects that on Tuesday came from Serbia's president, and later from the prime minister. When asked if all the members of the government coalition agreed there was no alternative to the EU, Dinkic answered that Serbia wanted to start the accession talks with the EU as soon as possible. "The plan is to do it in the first half of 2013. We agreed on that when we signed the coalition agreement and we are not giving up on it," Dinkic said after presenting the 2012 White Book, issued by the Foreign Investors Council. Serbia's strategy is to start the talks with the EU, but the EU is currently in a great deal of trouble and will not think too much about improving things in Serbia, he noted. "The talks with the EU themselves, which should be started, are not enough, but it is a requirement needed to move the country forward," Dinkic stated, adding that the government had to make sure the people "lived better lives". Besides the talks with the EU being a priority, Serbia has to talk and cooperate with everyone, the minister stated, adding he will travel to Abu Dhabi, the richest part of the UAE, with Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic on Wednesday. "We want to cooperate both with the west and the east. Everyone is welcome who comes to Serbia bringing capital, employing our people and creating production that has a market," Dinkic noted.
