President Boris Tadic said in the Republic of Srpska that Serbia wants to join the European Union as soon as possible. “I told RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik about our efforts for having Serbia’s application for EU membership discussed and the SAA ratified as soon as possible,” Tadic said. Tadic meets with RS officials He said that the two talked about economic topics and the economic crisis in the region. Tadic said that those were the main topics of this “friendly” meeting, adding that Bosnian President official Haris Silajdzic would be making an unofficial visit to Belgrade soon. “It is not an official visit. Serbia is continuing regional cooperation and I will welcome Haris Silajdzic to Belgrade in this form,” the Serbian president said. Asked if there was talk of the Istanbul declaration, which Federation officials in Bosnia signed without agreement with RS officials, Tadic said that he and Dodik “do not have the same opinion on all questions, because Dodik has his authority and legitimacy in RS and I have mine in Serbia.” Dodik said that this was a normal visit by Tadic and that they discussed some important questions. He said that a meeting of the Council for the Implementation of the Agreement for Special and Parallel Relations between RS and Serbia will be held in on June 8 in Banja Luka. Dodik said that he and Tadic talked about energy and economic questions between Serbia and RS, as well as some political topics. “We spoke about the meeting which will be held on June 2 in Sarajevo, where officials of the region and EU member-states will be present,” he said, adding that Turkish and American official will also be attending. “We expect that the visa-free regime for Bosnia-Herzegovina citizens will be confirmed at the meeting,” Dodik said. The meeting between Tadic and Dodik was also attended by the Serb member of the Bosnia Presidency Nebojsa Radmanovic and RS Assembly Speaker Igor Radojcic.
