He said that the Balkans was ripe for recruitment of extremist Islamic groups and that an exchange of information in this field would be necessary for stopping the “export” of white Al- Qaeda to America, which is a potential target. Dacic told Kelly about the organizational structure of the ministry and stressed that the priority is police reform, adding that there is a great interest in sending Serbian police officers to New York for training. He said that this interest is most present with special units, traffic police, criminal investigators and financial investigators. Kelly told Dacic about New York police’s organizational structure and said that the biggest problems in the city are the increase in Islamic terrorism, according to the Tanjug news agency report. Kelly and Dacic talked about the new monitoring system which the U.S. government invested a quarter of a million dollars to cover the areas of New York with the highest level of risk. During the evening of his last day in New York, Dacic held a lecture at the Harriman Institute of Columbia University on the topic of “Serbia’s European vision”. He said that the “future of the entire region must be European Union membership, and visa liberalization for all citizens.”
