The new president of the European Parliament has stressed the importance of the Western Balkans’ integration into EU structures provided all conditions are met. "The situation in the Balkans is now promising. Today, there are no longer the tensions that we knew in the past. The countries of the region are now knocking at the EU’s door. We can admit new members, what’s more, in a entirely natural manner. But, the conditions need to be met first,” Jerzy Buzek told daily Vecernje Novosti. EP chief on importance of Balkan integration Buzek supports the European integration of the Western Balkans, as "this is of paramount importance and is the right way to maintain balance and preserve peace in the region, but this is not only important for the region, but for all Europeans too." He stressed that visa liberalization was very important, both for the Western Balkans and Еastern Europe. Asked whether he saw Serbia in the EU, Buzek said that one never knew. “Of course, as soon as she is ready, Serbia should complete the integration process,” said the new EP president.
