Dacic said that the policeman demonstrated great personal courage in an attempt to take on and arrest by himself four robbers and that his act is a great example of "how one should risk even one's life in the fight against crime." "People mainly blame the police for everything that is happening in this country," Dacic told reporters, noting that they are "rightly angry when the police make mistakes". "We feel for all who were the victims of certain actions by police officers who overstep their official powers, but at the same time, we ask the entire society, the state and the political parties to demonstrate at least the same degree of understanding for the police victims and for this profession," he stated. Dacic underscored that since the start of the 1990s, almost 1,000 Serbian police (MUP) officers have been killed in the line of duty. Dacic speaks to reporters on Sunday (Tanjug)
