Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic says Croatian responsibility for the damaged relations between the two countries is greater than Serbia's. But he also stated this does not mean that efforts should be abandoned to, in 2009 and in the years to come, do everything to overcome the current problems. Not only have they recognized Kosovo's unilaterally declared independence, but they insisted on maintaining the lawsuit against Serbia. I would be hard-pressed to appraise these two decisions as well-meaning toward our country," Jeremic told daily Blic in an interview published on Saturday. The minister refused to comment on media reports that Albanian terrorist from Kosovo are planning to assassinate him. "I don't think it would be appropriate for me to comment on that," said Jeremic. He also revealed that the Foreign Ministry's funds will be halved under the 2009 draft budget, in line with the government's austerity measures. "We will introduce saving measures. Some diplomatic-consular offices will close, some new will open," Jeremic explained, and added that the issue of personnel reduction remains open.
