What did we expect from Croatia. Lets flashback since 1918. They gained more territory and independence. They got away with genocide in WW2 - unscathed. Tito whitewashed it down with abit of "brother and unity" with no truth and reconcilliation. They separated in '91. We fought a war with them. They also killed and expelled hundreds of thousands of our own kin, who fought for what was theirs Krajina. They filed a suit against us and recognized one of our provinces. Friends? Brothers? I think not! Not even close neighbours. They don't even practise fair trade practises. Try being a Serbian company over there -good luck. Try driving a vehicle with Serbian license plates - good luck. But the opposite in Serbia? Well, I've seen many businesses and license plates - unscathed and not bothered. Well, with friends like that, who needs enemies.

For all those that have sent comments stating that Serbia has come out unscathed from the war that they apparently initiated should visit some of the numerous refugee camp sites in Serbia. The fact that Serbia has more refugees than any other country in Europe says it all. These people have not fled their homes on a whim they fled beacuse they were forced to flee. Lets think of them who live in squalor and in inhumane conditions and be greatful that we the lucky ones have a roof over oour heads.

Why Albanians need to Assassinate him?.
Mr Jeremic is doing great job for Kosova.

I agree ZK, that's why K-Albs are working very hard to build Kosova as a state. A small army starts in jan 2009. 3300 troops, but it's a start. Long road ahead, we know.

in what way exactly? is serbia going to get bombed or in any other way sanctioned for this?

the fact that you believe that what is "horrible" for serbia is "beneficial" for serbia's neighbours speaks volumes about your character. the fact that it's all just wishful thinking speaks volumes about your intellect.

I read a lot of nonsensical statements on this website.Every single objective observer who has studied the history of Europe and the Balkans can easily tell you that the Croats are the Slavic people which have ascribed to the worst form of fascistic intolerance in their dealings with their respective neighbors throughout history and the present day is no diferent.Serbia has had its faults but in no way do they come anywhere close to the Croat ones.As an America who has had dealings with many people from the Balkans I can assure you that the Serbs are the most tolerant by far.Mr.Jeremic is a very articulate gentleman and for Serbs who want to be able to walk with their heads held up high vote for him as your next president in the near future. If every serb was as smart as Mr.Jeremic you would be considered a country of tough but extremely intelligent people.Shalom

With this statement, Jeremić has contributed to the malaise between the two nations. Until the politicians stop pointing fingers at one another there will never be true healing. Instead the politicians should be working together to figure out how to heal the rifts between us.

One clever man once said that even in such poor a country as Georgia definitely is there are always several thousands of “warm” places available and that is the main reason why national elites always strive so hard for independence. The main fault of all the nations in the ex-Yugoslavia as well as the ex-USSR was that they did not move forward honest politicians to value their national interests more than their private ones.

Yugoslavia was one of the 52 states to establish the UN and now we have about 200 members … This is a general trend we both failed to avoid. But it’s quite wrong to accuse Serbia or Croatia in general. Serbian elite and Serbian people have quite little in common. They just talk the same language and go to the same churches but their interests are quite different. Serbs just want to live in peace and dignity while their elites need mostly to keep the state power with all the privileges it can provide.

Same with the Croats and Bosniaks and even with our Montenegrin brothers. Their fault as I can see it was that they all were unable to resist their own elites and thus let this Pandora Box to be opened. It’s a big tragedy of the Serbian people that it’s all four parts live in tense now.

Here in Russia we escaped this fate and all 3 parts of the Russians live in piece now. 80-90% citizens in Russia , Belorussia and Malorossia (i.e. Ukraine) consider these 3 states as the most friendly. Meanwhile the Ukrainian elites during all 17 years of their independence are in vain trying to poison our relations. But ordinary people there are wise enough not trust their own elites. This is the way peoples of ex-Yugoslavia should behave to bring back peace and prosperity.

To all of those K-Albanians out there. Come out of denial and stop with the 90s propaganda. The world has moved on since then and you guys need to start helping your country and to stop with the denial.

It is time to move on from the past and time to embrace the potential of reconciliation. It seems evident that more K-Albanians visit this Serbian site now than ethnic Serbians so just as you embrace this site in your home country, it's also time to embrace Serbia and to help your home country! We are ready to bring lasting peace to our Southern province and to all Serbian citizens.

Just as JFK once said - "Ask not what your country can do for you--ask what you can do for your country".

Those posting comments should bear in mind that of all the former Yugoslavian Republics, Serbia has by far the largest proportion of minority communities. If Serbia is as malign and intolerant as some would have us believe, why is this so. Those remaining Serbs in other Republics, suffer prejudice and racism that would not be tolerated in a civilised society.

First, how can he say that Croatia is more responsible than Serbia for the mess that former Yu countries find themselves in. Do not ever forget that all the wars in the former Yu (Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, and Kosovo) were started by Serbia or its army or paramilitary formations. So as a direct consequence of its actions Serbia can should have itself on top of that list. Mind you I am not at all saying that the others were not to blame. It's just Serbia was the main factor for all of the wars.

The problem with Serbia is that "forget" that Croatia is an independent country and that is a BIG problem. Until Serbia accepts the new REALITIES in the region EUROPE MUST WATCH and watch closely.
