Activists from the “Europe Has No Alternative” movement have condemned statements made by SRS official Gordana Pop Lazic. Activist Nemanja Stamencic said that a campaign had been organized by the group to urge citizens to vote on May 11, and not allow young people to be “patriotically enlightened, as Pop Lazic put it.” NGO condemns Radical’s remarks “We believe that such statements are unacceptable, because freedom of thought, media and association are prerequisites for developing an ordered democratic society. However, we see attempts today to abuse democracy with the goal of ruining its basic principles,” Stamencic said. NGO activists handed out fliers to citizens today, calling on them to vote on May 11, with the message that “Serbia mustn’t stop.” The campaign was organized to condemn remarks made by Pop Lazic on B92 TV that the Serb Radical Party (SRS) wanted to enlighten the younger generation, which had to be brought up in a patriotic and nationalistic spirit.
