Milorad Marceta claims that he was attacked by a security guard belonging to Dragan Djilas and Boris Tadic during their visit to Bolec. Djilas, the Democratic Party’s (DS) candidate for Belgrade mayor, has refuted the allegations. Man accuses DS security guard of assault Marceta accused one of Djilas’s security guards of assaulting him after he had made some disparaging comments about the visitors. He told journalists at the Serb Radical Party’s (SRS) headquarters that he had been in Bolec by chance at the same time as the DS leader and Djilas had been on a visit to the Grocka municipality, as part of their election campaign. “Tadic came up to me, stretched out his arm, and I told him: ’Full Credit to you, but what are you doing with thieves like that,’ and I pointed at Djilas,” he said. According to Marceta, three minutes later a young man, about 30 years of age, came up to him, threw him against a fence and started hitting him. Marceta claims not to be a member of any political party. He says that he called the police for help, but that nobody came over, and that two police officers told him that they could not react. Djilas said that the allegations that somebody from his entourage had injured anyone were false, and he accused the SRS of being behind it all. Last night, SRS members fired gunshots at DS activists who were putting up posters in Belgrade, he claimed. “That is why SRS headquarters are trying to blame me for that alleged incident which I had nothing to do with,” said Djilas in a statement Tanjug received from his cabinet. The DS candidate for mayor said that he had never, not even today, had a security guard, so that statements that somebody from his so-called entourage had injured anyone were false. Yesterday evening, Tadic’s cabinet said that his security guard had had nothing to do with the incident in Bolec. “President Tadic’s security guard did not take part in, provoke or have anything to do with the incident,” reads a statement passed to Beta.
