The Defense Ministry and the Serbian Defense Industry have signed an arms export deal with Iraq, reports AP. Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac said late on Thursday that the state-owned company Jugoimport SDPR had signed a contract with the Iraqi Ministry of Defense to the value of USD 230mn for the export of products, presumed to include machine-guns, anti-tank rockets, explosives and munitions, to that country. An Iraqi Ministry of Defense delegation visited Serbia twice last autumn, when, among other things, it visited the Zastava Weapons factory. That was the first visit by an Iraqi official since the fall of the Saddam Hussein regime, who, in his day, always kept close military links with the former Yugoslavia.
