Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić has arrived in Washington Thursday for a two-day visit to the United States.

He will also meet with and Democratic majority leader in the House of Representatives Stanley Hoyer.

A meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has been scheduled for Friday.

Jeremić will also meet with White House National Security Advisor Steven Hadley.

Ahead of his trip to the United States, the foreign minister described the visit as “crucial in Serbia’s efforts to secure ‘essential quality’ of the negotiating process over the future status of Kosovo that entered a very delicate phase.”

“My priority will be to try and ease tensions in bilateral relations between our two countries, and point to the fact that Serbia and the U.S. share the same interests in numerous issues,” Jeremić said.
