June inflation figure rises

“The speeding up of the base inflation rate, on the one side, is an indirect consequence of the increase of electricity prices in May and the increase of gas prices in April and May, and on the other side of the depreciation of the dinar, which in the first five months of the year was about four percent nominally,” CEVES said.

The statement also maintains that the growth of total inflation in June, which was 0.6 percent in relation to May, had the greatest effect on the increase of the prices of industrial production, firstly fuel derivatives and medicines, but also a significant effect on the increase of the prices of tobacco products.

Agricultural products were 8.1 percent less expensive in June than May, which decreased the total growth, and if the prices of these products were unchanged, the total June growth would be at 0.9 percent, CEVES experts said.
