Delta Holding owner's detention appeal rejected

The Belgrade Appellate Court has rejected the appeals lodged by Delta Holding owner Miroslav Mišković and Nibens Group owner Milo Đurašković.

BELGRADE The Belgrade Appellate Court has rejected the appeals lodged by Delta Holding owner Miroslav Miskovic and Nibens Group owner Milo Djuraskovic. The court's decision upheld a previous ruling of the Belgrade District Court which extended their detention by another 30 days on May 10, Appellate Court spokeswoman Mirjana Piljic told Tanjug. The District Court remanded them in custody for another 30 days on May 10 at the motion of the Organized Crime Prosecutor's Office, deeming them a flight risk. Miskovic, the owner of Serbia's largest privately-owned company, and Djuraskovic were arrested December 12 last year and have been in custody at the district jail in Belgrade. On May 9, the Organized Crime Prosecutor's Office filed charges against Miroslav Miskovic, his son Marko, Djuraskovic, and another eight people for suspected abuse of funds at a road maintenance company and tax evasion. Under this ruling, they can be kept in detention until June 9 when the District Court will once again review if there is grounds to extend their detention.

The District Court remanded them in custody for another 30 days on May 10 at the motion of the Organized Crime Prosecutor's Office, deeming them a flight risk.

Mišković, the owner of Serbia's largest privately-owned company, and Đurašković were arrested December 12 last year and have been in custody at the district jail in Belgrade.

On May 9, the Organized Crime Prosecutor's Office filed charges against Miroslav Mišković, his son Marko, Đurašković, and another eight people for suspected abuse of funds at a road maintenance company and tax evasion.

Marko Mišković is under house arrest, while the other defendants have been released pending trial.
