War-time Mayor of Bosnian town of Trebinje Bozidar Vucurevic could sue Serbia for unlawfully remanding him in custody for two and a half months. Vucurevic’s lawyer Vladimir Bozovic says that Serbian courts’ decisions to cancel his extradition to Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina showed that situation in Serbian judiciary is alarming. We are considering filing a lawsuit against the state because of it,” Bozovic told a press conference. Vucurevic was released from Belgrade District Prison on Friday. He was arrested on April 4 at Karakaj border crossing with Bosnia-Herzegovina on Croatia’s warrant. Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina are accusing him of war crimes in Dubrovnik and Trebinje. Bosnian town war-time mayor may sue Serbia

“We are happy he has been released pending trial, but we are not happy he was illegally held in prison. We are considering filing a lawsuit against the state because of it,” Božović told a press conference.

Vučurević was released from Belgrade District Prison on Friday. He was arrested on April 4 at Karakaj border crossing with Bosnia-Herzegovina on Croatia’s warrant.

Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina are accusing him of war crimes in Dubrovnik and Trebinje.
