Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor Vladimir Vukcevic says the optimism that Hague indictee Ratko Mladic may soon be arrested is based on intensive work and effort. "Serbia's goal is to arrest the Hague fugitives Ratko Mladic and Goran Hadzic," he told the Belgrade-based daily Vecernje Novosti. "Intensive work on finding Mladic" "I cannot disclose any details," Vukcevic alsi stated, adding that Mladic's war diary contributes to the realization of this goal. In view of the statement of Chief Hague Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz that he is not satisfied with Serbia's cooperation in the search for Mladic and Hadzic, Vukcevic said that he believes that the problem is in the media interpretation of his statement. "Brammertz spoke about the June report, and he has not yet commented on the one that will file in two months," Vukcevic said. "We have received assurance from The Hague that this was a spontaneous conversation with journalists in which each of them found something interesting. The analysis of cooperation will be released in November when Brammertz files his report, not sooner," he underscored. Brammertz's Special Adviser Frederick Swinnen stated for Vecernje Novosti that, in his talks with foreign correspondents, which were interpreted in Serbia as a pressure due to insufficient cooperation with the ICTY, Brammertz actually described the situation as rather good. Brammertz also talked about Serbia's cooperation, but he did not say anything that was not included in his June written report and his address to the UN Security Council. Now he only reiterated what he had told them then, Swinen said.
