The Special Prosecutor’s Office said today that the trial against three former FC Red Star executives has not been transferred to their office. “The Special Organized Crime Prosecutor’s Office has no information at all that that trial would be transferred to us,” Spokeswoman Slavica Jokic-Jankovic told Beta news agency. Special court denies taking on Dzajic case Belgrade daily Blic today reported that the investigation, conducted so far by the District Prosecutor’s Office, would be taken over by the Special Prosecution "because elements of organized crime were detected in the investigation". Jokic-Jankovic however, stated that Special Prosecutor Miljko Radisavljevic did not start an investigation against Dragan Dzajic, Vladimir Cvetkovic and Milos Marinkovic. Another possible way for the case to be transferred to the Special Court for Organized Crime would be for the Supreme Court to rule on the conflict of jurisdiction in the case. Spokeswoman for the Supreme Court Vesna Dabic, however, also denied that any such decision would be taken until one of the courts declared itself without jurisdiction to conduct the trial. Dzajic, Marinkovic and Cvetkovic where arrested on Feb. 5 under suspicion that they committed fraud and made illegal gains in excess of EUR 6mn when Red Star player Goran Drulic was sold to the Spanish Zaragoza. The investigation was later extended to probe the roles of Dzajic and Marinkovic in another transfer, this time that of Nemanja Vidic to Spartak Moscow. EUR 2mn were illegally taken from this player transfer, the prosecution believes. Zoran Njegus's transfer to Atletico Madrid has also allegedly illegally earned Dzajic and Cvetkovic some DM 3.5mn, while the sale of Perica Ognjenovic's contract to Real Madrid brought them a further DM 1mn. Dzajic, a former Red Star football legend and vice-president of the Serbian FA, is in jail, but is currently treated at the military clinic VMA, due to poor health. Cvetkovic and Marinkovic remain in custody.
