The Republic of Srpska police have confiscated passports and ID cards from members of Radovan Karadzic’s family. In so doing, the Karadzic family is now unable to leave the country, said RS Interior Ministry spokeswoman Tamara Maric. Karadzic family travel documents seized According to Maric, the family’s travel documents were confiscated following orders from International High Representative for Bosnia-Hercegovina Miroslav Lajcak, based on suspicions that the family were helping hide the Hague fugitive. She said that Karadzic’s wife, son, daughter and son-in-law had been called in for questioning by police in Pale “where they were informed that they were forbidden to leave Bosnia-Hercegovina, their ID cards and travel documents having been confiscated on the basis of suspicions that they formed part of the support network helping harbour Hague Tribunal fugitive Radovan Karadzic." Lajcak explained that he had issued the order in order to improve cooperation with the Hague Tribunal. The Bosnian Prosecution recently brought charges against some forty people suspected of belonging to Hague fugitives’ support network, including members of the close family of Karadzic, and fellow accused Ratko Mladic, Stojan Zupljanin and Goran Hadzic.
